Biography
Sofia Vladimirovna Vassilieva was born Thursday, October 22, 1992 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. At the early age of seven, Sofia was discovered at the
New York International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) where she won seven titles including "Child Actress" and first runner-up "Child Model of the
Year".
In less than a year, at age eight, Sofia booked her first professional acting role in the television show, "The Agency", in which she appeared as the
granddaughter of a Russian General. This role provided a challenge for Sofia as all her scenes were spoken in Russian. Over the next year, Sofia auditioned
for different roles but her next role didn't come until she was chosen out of several hundred girls to play the lead role of Eloise in the TV movies "Eloise
at the Plaza" and "Eloise at Christmastime" in which she starred opposite Julie Andrews.
Sofia's additional movie credits include "The Brady Bunch in the White House," where she portrayed Cindy Brady, opposite Shelley Long and Gary
Cole and the psychological thriller "Inhabited" opposite Malcolm McDowell and Patty McCormack. More recently Sofia starred in the drama "Day Zero" with
Elijah Wood, Ginnifer Goodwin and Chris Klein and in 2008 Sofia protrayed a disturbed teen in the thriller "Hurt" with Melora Walters and William Mapother.
By the age of eleven, Sofia booked the role of Ariel Dubois, Allison and Joe's eldest daughter who exhibits some of the same psychic abilities as her mother, in NBC's
hit NBC drama series "Medium". Ariel struggle to balance her life as an everyday suburban teenager with her mysterious, emerging inherited gifts.
Sofia is currently filming the screen adaption of My Sister's Keeper, written by Jodi Picoult in which she plays Kate Fitzgerald, a young teenager fighting
Lukeamia. This role called for Sofia to shave her gorgeous long locks in preparation for the role of a long-term cancer patient.
When Sofia isn't filming she enjoys doing ballet, yoga, piano, singing and riding horses. Sofia lives in Los Angeles and is fluent in English, French and Russian.
